A formal website of the New Socialist Movement has long been due. Through the years of people’s struggles, union formations, labor movements, and the eventual foray into politics, word-of-mouth served its purpose to spread information and knowledge about the movement.

For some years now, activists and workers have begun to realize the potential of the internet. The idea of liberating our thoughts, ideologies, opinions and actions, and making them available to the booming populace of the virtual world is undoubtedly appealing.

You can find the most current, updated news about the New Socialist Movement (NSM), the Jansangharsh Movement (JSM), and the Gujarat Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU) on the respective pages. Besides, there is extensive information, commentary, and news about events in India - events which don’t just affect the lives of Indians, but also present paradigmatic shifts in thought for the entire world.

You can also find out about the public interest litigations (PILs) being fought in court by lawyers of the Jansangharsh Manch.

Among the several downloadable files you can find on this website are party documentation, the Manifesto of the new Socialist Movement, and researched presentations on the Godhra riots.

Is there a Gmail Chat Javascript Shortcut/Bookmark which can be placed on the bookmark toolbar on firefox, and can be used to quickly message specific contacts in the Gmail Chat List. For those who use Gmail Chat and have it on all day and talk multiple times to a few specific
people in the day, its cumbersome to put their name in the Quick Contacts search field and then click on "chat" or "send offline chat" (for the times when u know they are invisible).

What I tried was using the javascipt open to open the popup link corresponding to an email address (the link that u get in the address bar when you popup a chat.

This works, but corrupts the gmail interface.

Any clues how this could be achieved?

UPDATE: I love google keyboard shortcuts. Use 'q' to focus on the contact search box, write in the name of the contact you wish to chat to, and navigate to either "Send Offline Chat" or "Chat" using arrow keys. Life is simpler now. Though I still wish there was a bookmarklet which allowed me to do the same.

Update: didn't like it, it inserts an extra new line at the start of the post which I dislike. Btw could try Anothr, its a cool rss bot for Google Talk etc. In the past, I had divided my feeds between Anothr and Google Talk.

banshee media player

banshee is cool, and there's a 1.0 beta release now, yet to try that .. will do so soon. I want a full featured media player with a lyrics plugin most importantly, used to love foobar on windows, lets see which one of rhythm, amarok and banshee actually make it to that level. And yes I love that last.fm is integrated into banshee.

Jansangharsh Manch, a human rights organization based out of Ahmedabad, has done extensive work regarding the Godhra train burning episode in 2002 and the following riots that wrecked havoc in all of Gujarat.

God

God is a creation of the human mind to alleviate the sufferings of the real world which arise from its contradictions with the nature and its fellow beings. The idea of 'God' has evolved with the evolution of human mind from the hunter-gatherer days to the present day world. The ancient 'Gods' from Zeus to Poseidon to Aphrodite in the Europas and Hevioss and Col in the Africas have all become extinct and have evolved in to the modern day species of Jesus, Allah and Ram. As humans resolved the contradictions of life through the advancement of human mind or in other words advancement of Science, each one of the old age gods phased out forming new age gods which cater to the newer contradictions in life i.e. from the Gods of thunder, fire and sea to the god of rain (the main stay god for the farmers) to the modern day 'all-in-one' gods which deal with ur financial insecurities to ur health problems.

God doesn't exist so the quesiton of turning to the non-existent god never arises. However the idea of God is a great emotional support for the theists which the atheists wouldn't have during their hard times.

I would also like to add that I'm not for academic atheism which a lot of atheists indulge in. God exists because of the contradictions of life and the idea of God itself would phase away when these contradictions of life are resolved. A real life example is in countries of Sweden, Norway and Denmark which have almost of 80% of their population as non-theists. The welfare capitalist system in these countries which provide free education and health care have resolved some of the contradictions and hence nullified the need of the modern day gods. Basically get the ip of one of the sub domains that meebo redirects you to by pinging the subdomain or through dns tools website and add an https in the front.

2002 Riot Compensation

The compensation should actually go out to thousands of muslims in Gujarat who were displaced, lost their houses, were killed, burnt, raped, demoralized and insulted in every possible way. Their houses were burnt, their shops were burnt, thus breaking their economic backbone.

However here the argument is how many people should actually be rehabilitated and a paltry number of 5000 seems to be a burden at this moment for the Gujarat Government. Wonder how much more remorseless can people get.

Flock

Testing out flock for the hundredth time to see if it has achieved some sense of stability. Hope it does now.

Got a stomach upset. Was quite miserable all of sunday.

This is the first blog am posting through the flock blog editor. Its neat to have a blog editor right within your browser, especially for people like me who are lazy to logon onto websites to post blogs. Even posting (s)craps on orkut seems so much of a pain.

Hope I can learn a wee bit of html as well by looking at the 'Source' tab in this blog editor.

Now that I am forced to be at home all day today, I want to do some studying once I am done with the little work I have which includes debugging the stupid mysql server which I screwed up a couple days back and sending a couple emails. For the record, I have no clue about mysql. Google Zindabad!

More later as I keep 'Flock'ing. Adios.
